U.S. Melges 24 Fleet Heads Inland to Lake Lanier

Flowery Branch, Ga - May 3, 2019 - The 2019 Melges 24 Southeast Inland Championship is this weekend at the Lake Lanier Sailing Club. The Lake Lanier Sailing Club is a private, family-oriented club just outside of Atlanta that is involved in all aspects of the sport of sailing.

Fourteen Melges 24 teams from Maryland, Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia will be traveling to Flowery Branch for three days of high-performance one-design sailboat racing. With well-managed courses, a small fleet racing, and tuning clinics offered this event will be fun-filled and educational.

On Friday, May 3 there will be a Melges 24 Tuning Clinic with Jackson Benvenutti, North Sails One Design LA. This clinic includes on-the-water drills and coaching throughout the regatta, followed by debriefing sessions each evening and happy hour.

Jackson is a key resource for Melges 24 Southeast competitors. He grew up sailing at Bay-Waveland Yacht Club and Southern Yacht Club. He attended the College of Charleston, where he was a two-time All American.

On Saturday, registration will be at 0800 and the Skipper Meeting will be held at 0900. The first warning signal is at 1055. The North Sails Clinic Debrief and Dinner will wrap up Day 1 of racing.
