MCKENZIE CROWNED 2017 MELGES 24 SE INLAND CHAMPIONSHIP
Thirteen Melges 24 teams participated at the 2017 SE Inland Championship hosted by the Lake Lanier Sailing Club (LLSC) on May 6-7. LLSC member Brent McKenzie on EX-KAHN found a perfect Melges 24 ground-roots groove to win the event by a substantial margin. The big battles however were for second and third and fourth thru sixth! 2017 Melges 24 Corinthian National Champion KC Shannon on Shaka beat out Roger Counihan's Jaws for the second place slot. Alabama's Zane Yoder on FNG Eelsnot rallied to finish the event in fourth winning the tie-breaker against fellow Melges 24 competitors Doug Thome on Buceeand Gary Schwarting on Obsession.
All around it was an awesome event with a total of eight races completed on the two-day weekend!
