| GET SET FOR HOT MELGES 24 ACTION ACROSS THE NORTHEAST! | |||
Teams from as far away as Charleston, Detroit, Chicago and Toronto, Canada are already on the books for event, hoping to get a glimpse into the venue for the 2008 North American Championships and the 2009 World Championships. Competition will be fierce on the Chesapeake Bay this year, so sign up today at http://sailingworld.com/nood_regatta.jsp?location=599. Four events in some of the Northeast’s best sailing venues comprise this year’s Melges 24 NE District Championship Series, of which three must be sailed to qualify for championship scoring. Following the Sperry Top-Sider Annapolis NOOD regatta is the 2008 Newport Regatta hosted by Sail Newport on July 11-13th. This venue promises great sea breezes and Atlantic rollers year after year, making for some great planing excitement on the Melges 24. Next up is the family-friendly beach environment of Ocean City New Jersery and the great hospitality of the OC Yacht Club and their Heart Cup regatta August 1-3. Not only is this a great venue for racing and one of the premier offshore regattas in New Jersey, it is a great event that raises funds for Heart related charities. Closing out the championship circuit is the 2008 Melges 24 North American Championships in Annapolis, MD and hosted by the Eastport Yacht Club. Simon Strauss and his Team Gill campaign is a three-time District Champion, and he’ll be looking for a four-pete. With some new M24 blood and the old guard rising in the ranks throughout the Northeast, the competition will be fierce!
