13 NOVEMBER 2007 • Southeast District Measurer, Tommy Clough will be in Jacksonville, Florida prior to the King's Day | ACC event to measure boats. Do you need to have your boat measured? Do you currently have a valid measurement certificate (MC)? A MC is something you should have with you at all times and especially while racing — be prepared to present it prior to racing at ANY Melges 24 regatta.

A measurement certificate confirms that your boat is a legal one design Melges 24. It's also important in regards to your investment and constitutes the competitive aspects of the class. So make sure you have a validated measurement certificate. How do you know if your measurement certificate valid? A valid measurement certificate is in your name, signed and stamped by the U.S. Melges 24 Class or governing MNA. It must have these three items on the MC in order to be valid.

What if you don't have a measurement certificate at all? What should you do? If you do not have a measurement certificate due to it being misplaced or lost in the shuffle of life and a transition of owners, you can inquire to the U.S. Melges 24 Class Association about whether or not a copy can be found on file with the class. If not, the boat must be remeasured — hence this great opportunity to have Tommy Clough remeasure and issue a new measurement certificate/form in your name for the class to sign and stamp.

Contact Tommy Clough today on email to schedule a time for measurement. Additional inquiries can be directed to Reid Collins, Southeast District Governor
