18 JULY 2007 • Just another reminder about the upcoming 2007 Gold Cup to be held in Charleston, SC the weekend of August 17-19. This year's Gold Cup is being held in conjunction with the famous Charleston Harbor Challenge. The hospitality of the Charleston M24 fleet and this great American city is second to none and the venue is one of the most challenging in the SE region, if not the country.

A couple of things you need to think about as you prepare for your trip to the Gold Cup. If you are sailing Corinthian, you need to have your ISAF classification for you and your crew all straightened out. Please refer to the ISAF website at www.sailing.org. In addition, there will be a weigh in at this event from 1630 - 1900 on Friday the 17th at 0800, and 0930 on Saturday 18th. I'd recommend you make the earlier weigh-in so you still can do what you have to do to make weight, if necessary, on Saturday. There are few who are willing to make their boats available for charter. If you think you'd like to explore that option, let me know. Also, early registration ends on July 31st ($195). Otherwise, the fee goes up by $50. Lastly, you obviously need to be a class member to participate in this regatta with a valid measurement certificate.

Also, if you are looking for crew, we have one that definately needs to be picked up for the Gold Cup. Our SE measurer, Tommy Clough, is looking for a ride for the Gold Cup. Obviously a good sailor and he knows the Charleston area. If we can get him a ride, those with any measurement issues can be taken care of at the regatta. He can be reached at tclough@harris.com or (321) 537-9079,

If you have any questions on the event, please contact Charleston M24 fleet captain Reggie Fairchild at reggiefairchild@gmail.com or 843-259-1717.
