02 JUNE 2007 • Despite the light air conditions, only one race took place on the Melges 24 course at the 2007 Sperry Top-Sider Detroit NOOD. Going into Saturday's races, Mike Dow on 'Flying Toaster' from Traverse City, Michigan commands the lead on a field of thirty-three M24s.

Looking further down the field it appeared that the Midwest boats definitely know the turf in Detroit. In the one and only race on Friday, they felt right at home on the waters just off the Bayview Yacht Club. From Chicago, IL; John Podmajersky grabbed the second place position; Scott Miller from Muskegon, Michigan was third; Chuck Holzman from Farmington, Michigan was fourth and Lance Smotherman from Harrison Township, Michigan was fifth.
