30 MAY 2007 - Officially, the Melges 24 fleet is once again the largest fleet in attendance at the fourth of nine Sailing World Magazine's NOOD Regattas! With the head count reaching into the thirties, the Melges 24 Class is ready to go racing in Detroit! This event will be a terrific warm-up to what is yet to come for the U.S. National Championship in September.

The 2007 Sperry Top-Sider Melges 24 Detroit NOOD Regatta is set to be yet another amazing event of the class. Registration commences on Thursday at the legendary Bayview Yacht Club with racing scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Amongst the league of talented competitors are USMCA Northeast District Governor Bill Carleton from Annapolis, Maryland; USMCA Midwest District Governor Mike Dow from Traverse City, Michigan; Regatta Chair for the upcoming US Nationals and local Melges 24 Fleet Captain is Paul Hulsey from Detroit, Michigan.

The list is long for those favored to do well — Chuck Holzman on 'Flyer', Simon Strauss on 'Team Gill', Alex Shaffer on the brand new M24 'Sweaty Betty', Jack Jennings on 'Pied Piper', Marc Hollerbach on 'Fu' and Timothy O'Neill on 'Rapid Sequence', Rob Bunn on 'Rumblur' just to name a few. The class would like to extend a warm welcome to newcomers Peter Wenzler on 'Underdog' who debuted at the Annapolis NOOD and is back for more in Detroit! Also, the USMCA welcomes our international entries of Andy Robinson on 'GBR-618' and Fred Detwiler on 'Trader 2'.
