THE 2006 MELGES 24 PACIFIC COAST CHAMPIONSHIP(PCCs) RAMPING UP TO BE A BIG ONE

03 JULY 2006 • The West Coast and Pacific Northwest Melges 24 fleets are set to converge on beautiful Lake Tahoe on July 15th and 16th, 2006 for what is expected to be one of the largest in attendance events for the region. Bruce Ayres and his Monsoon crew are the reigning kings of Tahoe and providing that they make the trip, will certainly be one of the teams to watch.

Currently signed up are a number of local boats including regatta organizer Tom Klenke on Nothing Ventured, USMCA West Coast District Governor Don Jesberg on Ego, Tim Hawkins on Go Dogs Go! and Dan Hauserman on Personal Puff. In hopes of attendance are Ayres, Seadon Wijsen, Cameron Lewis, Neal Ruxton, Dave Ullman and the entourage of Pegasus Racing, Shark and Philippe Kahn. Up to as many as thirty boats are anticipated, a minimum of four are slated to arrive from the Pacific Northwest.

Over the last two years this event has grown and is now seen as the Melges 24 West Coast melting pot regatta, where an amazing gathering occurs of the professional, the amatuer and the eclectic. Hosted by the Lake Tahoe Yacht Club this is a seriously first class event with great food, fun and friends, not to mention the breathtaking backdrop. This is proof that the resurrgance of Melges 24s is alive and well out west!

As more information becomes available on this event it will be posted on this site. If you need direct assistance, please contact Tom Klenke on email.
