DAVE ULLMAN, THE SULTAN OF SAILING PULLS ANOTHER VICTORY

27 JUNE 2006; Long Beach, California - Dave Ullman, the title owner of Ullman Sails Race Week has been on top of his game for quite sometime. Now 64, Dave has won over 30 National and World Championship titles in the sport of sailing, including the coveted Rolex Yachtsman of the Year title in 1996. By winning the 2006 Ullman Sails Race Week on his Pegasus 505 Melges 24, it's just another jewel in his crown. For the 2005-2006 racing seasons, victory for him has been like metal to a magnet and now, with his sights set on the 2006 Melges 24 World Championship this August in Hyeres, France Ullman will be a definite favorite.

Dave Ullman's toughest competition came from 16-year old, M24 World Champion Shark Kahn, who lacked just a couple of points from sharing the title. Dave however has high regards for the youngster and sees him as an aspiring sailing champion. The weather was excellent during the second and third day of the event. Perhaps the hardest task for the pros was the stiff competition put up by amateur teams like Bruce Ayres on Monsoon and Argyle Campbell on Rock n'Roll. Ayres and Campbell battled for the third spot, however the Monsoon team made it with two points to spare.

Following Ullmans Sails Race Week, is the highly anticipated Pacific Coast Championship in Lake Tahoe, California on July 15th and 16th. Dave will be there, and looking at his level of consistency during this season, this is a high training ground as he prepares for Worlds where he will face more than 120 of the planet's fiercest Melges 24 competition.
