09 JUNE 2006 • The Melges 24 class is causing a stir again. Having one of the best boats known to man is not too bad. The Charleston Ocean Racing Association (CORA) is going to start the Melges 24 as it's own fleet on Wednesday nights as a one design fleet. Our local fleet of Melges 24s will now be sailing one design for the summer series when there is not as much out of town sailing as we have in the Spring, Winter, and Fall. We have about eight local boats and will probably have ten by the end of the summer. We welcome any of the other CORA people who may want a joy ride. About six will show up most Wednesday nights unless several of you go out and buy boats. We have people in the fleet at all skill levels and will help you get your feet wet. They really ae the best boat known to man. See ya on the water, Ryan Hamm USMCA Southeast District Governor |
