TIMOTHY O'NEILL LEADS THE 2006 DETROIT NOOD AFTER ONE DAY OF RACING

02 JUNE 2006 • The 2006 Detroit NOOD got off to an amazing start yesterday as twenty-four Melges 24 teams battled light and shifty conditions, under cloudy skies for three, fantastically challenging races.

Coming out on top overall, after day one Timothy O'Neill on Rapid Sequence sits atop the leaderboard with a 1, 8, 8 finish. All the way from Atlanta, Georgia Team Satisfaction with USMCA Vice President, Scott Gregory at the helm secures the second place position with a 3, 3, 12 finish. Gregory was followed by Marty Jensen in third on Moxie with a 2, 17, 1 finish. Other teams that exceled on day one, seated in fourth overall was Detroit Fleet Captain, Paul Hulsey on Hoodlum Racing after taking a bullet in the second race and Bill Carleton from Annapolis, Maryland on Tiburon landed a second place finish in the third race of the day, leaving him is a very satisfying eight place overall. Marc Hollerbach on Foo got better by the race with a miserable 23rd in the first race, he quickly hopped to sixth in the second race and a nice third in the last race. Marc rounds out the top ten.

More racing is scheduled for today as they head out for three additional races on day two of the 2006 Detroit NOOD at the famous Bayview Yacht Club. Stay tuned to www.sailingworld.com as full results and reports become available.
