21 MAY 2006 - While the big shots in the Melges 24 North American Championship fleet bobbed around in Santa Cruz today with no wind, more than two dozen M24s were tearing up the brown waters of Muskegon Lake in up to 18 knots. This weekend is Muskegon Yacht Clubs annual One Design Invitational Regatta- and while many of the competitors would have liked to be at North Americans, SC is a long way away for most of us. With Mack sick days already approved at the office and both the Detroit and Chicago NOODs just around the corner, a surprisingly big fleet of Melgi rolled into this post-industrial backwater to blow out the last of the winter cobwebs and have a few races.
