NOT A STITCH OF WIND ON DAY THREE AT THE 2006 NACs

20 MAY 2006 - Day two results stand as is for day three as the wind failed to appear in Santa Cruz, California. "This is so strange, no wind in Santa Cruz?" said fourth place runner Bruce Ayres on Monsoon. The teams headed out around noon with a slight breeze in the harbor area but greeted at the race course with practically no wind. After about an hour of floating around in perfect tanning conditions, the race committee signaled for all teams to return to the docks where friendly games of frisbee took place as they awaited a racing announcement. Shortly thereafter the racing was canceled for the day.

Going into the final last day of the regatta and only six races completed, the heated battle between Brian Porter on Full Throttle and Dave Ullman on Pegasus 505 goes on. Porter leads Ullman by one very slim point. The next closest battle is between Seadon Wijsen on Pareto Optimal in third and Bruce Ayres on Monsoon is trailing him by three points. Philippe Kahn onboard Pegasus 575 rounds out the top five competitors.

Racing will continue on Sunday, the final day of the 2006 Melges 24 North American Championship.
