USMCA ExComm Nominations Extended

Back at the end of February the USMCA placed a call for nominations to elect a new Executive Committee. The nomination period has been extended for a couple more days to further bolster a growing list of nominees. Any current USMCA member can nominate themselves or any other member to one or more positions. To submit a nomination, please send the nominees name and a short bio explaining how the you/they can make a positive contribution to the USMCA and help grow the class to 2010 USMCA Nominations.

In order to submit a nomination, or be nominated, the individual must be a current member of the USMCA. Join The Class.

The USMCA is the organizational body responsible for organizing the Melges 24 and promoting fleet growth in the U.S. The USMCA is organized in accordance with the international class and responsible for selecting all North American ranking events and coordinating the North American Championships and World Championships when held in the United States. The Association consists of a Board of Governors made up of each of the six District Governors, the Past President and the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee consists of the following positions: 

President - Shall represent the USMCA at all IMCA meetings and serve as provided for in the IMCA Constitution. Coordinate the efforts of all members of the Executive Committee and the District Governors. Provide guidance and support for selecting, managing, conducting and organizing National and World Ranking Events. Exercise any other authority and power delegated by the Board of Governors from time to time. Serve as Chair of the Board of Governors and Executive Committee. 

Vice President - Shall officiate in the absence of the USMCA President, generally assist the USMCA President in the performance of his or her duties and serve as the Vice Chair of the Board of Governors and Executive Committee. 

Secretary - Shall be responsible for the minutes at the USMCA, Board of Governors and Executive Committee meetings and shall hold the official records. Shall coordinate the organization of the class including distributing and receiving official paperwork and shall work with the President in the day-to-day running of the class. 

Treasurer - Shall be responsible for the funds and expenses of the USMCA, shall keep accurate records of the financial affairs of the USMCA and shall make disbursements as the Executive Committee may direct. Responsible for preparing all financial statements for the Class. Technical Committee Chairman - The 

Technical Committee Chairman is responsible for organizing and leading the Technical Committee which will consist of a member from each of the six Districts. The Technical Committee will work with the Executive Committee regarding Class Rules, Building Specifications and Measurements, including suggested amendments or additions and interpretations. The Technical Committee shall also cooperate with the USMCA official fleet measurers and technical staffs of licensed builders to protect the one-design character of the International Melges 24 Class worldwide. Further, the Technical Committee Chairman shall be responsible for updating and maintaining the USMCA Standard Sailing Instructions, Standard Notice of Regatta, and Measurement Manual for the Melges 24 US Class.
