San Diego Melges Race Week combines a Friday of intense, offshore, Melges-only racing with San Diego Yacht Club’s prestigious Yachting Cup on Saturday and Sunday.
The inaugural Melges California Cup is an annual three-regatta series touching some of the finest venues on the West Coast: San Diego (April 30 - May 2), Lake Tahoe (July 8-10), and San Francisco (August 20-22).
The Melges California Cup is an unrivalled opportunity to enjoy close, top-level competition amidst challenging offshore, onshore, and alpine lake conditions. Each venue is beautiful. Each venue is different. But what all three races have in common is the fun factor -- on and off the water. Hosted by the San Diego Yacht Club, Tahoe Yacht Club, and The San Francisco Yacht Club, each California Cup event is tied directly in with the Club's most prestigious (and well attended) regattas: San Diego Yachting Cup, Trans-Tahoe, and in San Francisco for 2010, the US Melges 24 Gold Cup.
As if that were not enticement enough, North Sails will be sponsoring a tuning clinic for Melges skippers and tacticians the day before the San
Diego and San Francisco events. And if you are interested in the Melges 24 class, you can participate in one of the related "Experience Melges" events, where a boat will be available for test sail with a Melges Performance Sailboats representative onboard.
